Supervisory Management – The Role

The team leader/supervisor’s job is not an easy one. They are expected to keep the section running smoothly and efficiently, and at the same time keep their staff committed and enthusiastic. Management relies on their loyalty and support, even when unpopular decisions have to be made. Their team see the supervisor as their leader and representative, and they too expect loyalty and support. Many team leaders/supervisors say that they feel ‘caught in the middle’, unsure about how much authority they have, and unsure as to how far they should assume a management role.

This in-house training course can be designed to meet your specific needs and is endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). The ILM is the UK's foremost professional body in the field of leadership and development. After attending this workshop, there is an option for participants to receive a Development Award (certificate) from the ILM.

Up to 10 supervisors (or potential supervisors) are invited to attend each workshop.

Most of the work is carried out in small groups and team leaders/supervisors are encouraged to participate fully in group discussions and practical skills sessions. All role-plays and exercises are based on their own experiences as a team leader/supervisor, thus maximising the transfer of learning from the course back to the work situation.

Everyone will leave the workshop with a personal action plan for further self-development.
