The employee appraisal interview can be one of the most efficient mechanisms by which an organisation can keep its staff motivated and committed. It is a key tool in talent management. Equally, a poorly conducted staff appraisal can result in so much bafflement, frustration and alienation that it would have been much better if it had never taken place at all.
A well-designed and professionally executed performance appraisal process, whether traditional or 360° , can contribute a great deal to your organisation's talent management and succession plan.
SML Performance Appraisal Training Course
A one–day course for up to 10 participants would help your managers complete the performance appraisal process in a professional manner culminating in a successful outcome for both parties.
There is very little ‘talk and chalk’ input on this workshop. It is more akin to a briefing about how to make your own organisation’s appraisal/talent management system work within the spirit, as well as the letter, of the policy.
About 80% of the time is spent ‘doing’ (objective setting, wording feedback, rating against competency, interviewing). Participants complete some pre-course work to save time setting up the role-play interviews, all of which relate to real scenarios that managers may face (e.g. the defensive/sensitive interviewee, poor performers, unrealistic career expectations, the cynic, the silent, the garrulous, the bully etc).
