Improving your interviewing technique to make better hiring or promotion decisions
Competency Based Interviewing
Selection and promotion decisions are arguably amongst the most important decisions managers have to make.
Most managers like to think they are a good judge of character, but ‘gut feel’ can be counter-productive when hiring or promoting staff. We all know the cost of choosing the wrong person!
Competency based interviewing technique can substantially help you to make the right decisions.
This in-house training course can be designed to meet your specific needs and is endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). The ILM is the UK's foremost professional body in the field of leadership and development. After attending this workshop, there is an option for participants to receive a Development Award (certificate) from the ILM.
Our workshops are intensive and involve up to 6 (or 12 with two tutors) participants interviewing, or observing, four interviews for the type of roles found in your organization.
We invite volunteers to submit their CV or application form for a particular job or grade, so the practice interviews feel very real – for both parties! The mock candidates volunteer as they want interview practice and feedback from the tutors. The interviewers are not only having to make sound decisions based on written information (CVs, application forms, appraisals) and information gleaned at interview, they also have to give a good impression of their organization to the candidates, who also give feedback on how they found the interview!
