Great turn out for our Free Networking Workshop

We had a great turn out for our free workshop on "How to expand and nurture your global network" on 4th October 2011.

Delegates came from a wide variety of industries with representatives from companies such as Hitachi, Thomson Reuters, Syngenta, Fujitsu, Oracle Corporation, Three, Quintiles and British Gas attending.

“Enjoyed the facilitative style of learning through experience and discussion” Helen Sheehy, Fujitsu

Our Director of Operations, Ben Lovegrove, opened the event and then introduced our delivery team, Senior Specialists Paul Jamieson and Abi Eniola along with Senior Consultant Stephanie Peckham.

“Great to refresh skills / meet diverse group of people. Utilising role play to demonstrate – thought was great tool!!!” Lucy Kilgour

The venue for this workshop was Coworth Park in Ascot, Berkshire, a five-star hotel in lovely surroundings. Delegates were met in reception by a member of the SML team and then jumped on a buggy for a drive through the scenic grounds and through to our self-contained building.

“It was very interactive, nice size of group, pace was good and I learnt some valuable things” Denise Gower, British Gas – New Markets

The main focus of the half-day workshop was skills practice with our Senior Specialists acting out poor (well, quite frankly terrible) attempts at networking before turning to the group for advice. They then used this advice to re-play the scenario, this time in an exemplary manner!

“Excellent. Enjoyed the ‘drama clip’ which demonstrated the ‘extreme’ behaviour” Kate Parsons, Syngenta

We also covered, at a high level, the ever growing world of remote networking. Senior Consultant Stephanie Peckham facilitated the session, focussing on tips and skills to increase not just the size of your networks but also the relevance, thus ensuring your online profile is turning up in the right place.

“Good overview of benefits. Enjoyable acting – brought it to life” Helen Benson, Thomson Reuters
